I have considerable experience in drawing the nude figure and enjoy it immensely. I have also began practicing clothed-model figure painting weekly with a drawing and painting group. I am learning to handle my brushes better, and to create skin tones using the Zorn palette, which is very limited – white, yellow ochre, cadmium red, and black. This work, Abigail in Jeans, is the product of a 3-hour pose (divided into 20-minute segments with 5 or 10 minute breaks). I am purposefully painting profiles or near profiles, which allows me to practice my brushwork and skin tones.
